Chef Bart
Sages is a dream come true for Bart. Born in Zielona Gora, Poland, he came to the United States in 1986 along with his Mother. Unable to speak English, he found a job at 14 years old working with famous Chef Walter Walcher at Tosonis in Bellevue, WA. Barts work ethic impressed Walter so much that he took Bart under his wing, teaching him everything from preparing fine cuisine to driving a car. Bart worked with Walter for 4 years before he decided to move on.
His next stint was working along side the Executive Chef at Eques, Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, WA. While employed there, he enrolled in Seattle School of Culinary Arts. In addition to going to school, he took on a second job cooking part time at Ristorante Paradiso in downtown Kirkland. Not long after, he was now speaking full English, he graduated Culinary School and was promoted to Executive Chef. During his 10 years at Paradiso, he learned all he could about operating a successful restaurant.
With his Wife nudging him to open his own place, he was ready to take a huge leap of Faith. After searching for the perfect spot, Bart and Jerri settled on the corner space in downtown Redmond, WA. Both quit their jobs and signed the lease on a wing and a prayer. With the opening of Sages in January 2001, Barts loyal clientele followed him to Sages and have watched his career blossom into one of the most respected Chefs on the Eastside. Now in his early 50s, he has almost 4 decades of experience in the kitchen.
Furthermore, Bart enjoys making sauces, homemade soups and desserts. He ensures only the finest and freshest ingredient's are used at Sages. In addition to his love for the Culinary Arts, Bart enjoys anything car related, trying new restaurants, investing, and spending time with his family and Walter, the family Frenchie.
